The aim of Istanbul Gelisim University Operating Room Services Program is to educate knowledgeable and experienced healthcare professionals who prepare the instruments and materials used in the operating room for surgical procedures, provide the necessary materials to the surgical team, ensure that the operating room environment is appropriately prepared according to the requirements of each surgical procedure, and provide practical support as part of the surgical team.

1. What are the career opportunities after graduating from the Operating Room Services Program?
Graduates of the program can work under the title of “Operating Room Technician” in operating rooms and operating room-related units (such as Sterilization Units) of public and private inpatient healthcare institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health.
2. Which courses are included in the curriculum of the Operating Room Services Program?
Beginning in the first semester of the Operating Room Services Program, students take courses designed to familiarize them with the human body and medical terminology, including Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology. They also take Operating Room Technology to become familiar with the operating room environment, as well as Surgical Diseases to learn about conditions requiring surgical treatment.
In the following semester, laboratory courses focusing on operating room practices, together with courses such as Pharmacology and Anesthesia, enable students to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the field. Through summer internships and internships undertaken during the academic term, students have the opportunity to integrate their theoretical knowledge with practical experience in clinical settings. In the second year, courses such as Organization in the Operating Room and Microbiology are offered, along with elective courses both within and outside the field to provide students with a broader perspective. In this way, students also acquire a variety of competencies that will contribute to their future careers.
3. Which undergraduate programs can graduates of the Operating Room Services Program transfer to through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS)?
Students who wish to continue their education through vertical transfer may take the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) and, provided that they achieve the required score, may be placed in an undergraduate program by ÖSYM (the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center). Graduates of the Operating Room Services Program may transfer to the undergraduate programs of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Healthcare Management, and Social Work.
