Head of Department Message
Dear Students,
Physical therapy is a treatment method that is programmed by a specialist physician to patients with movement disorders for various reasons, patients with pain and dysfunction, and the elderly. The specialist doctor prepares a program by focusing on the patients movement disorder or pain. In recent years, physical therapy has been used as a preventive method for disability and injury in healthy individuals within the scope of preventive medicine. Graduates of the Physiotherapy Department, which has a 2-year associate degree program at the vocational school, receive the title of "Physiotherapy Technician".
Physiotherapy techniques, who have up-to-date and technological knowledge about physical therapy methods, are assistant health personnel who support the treatment applied under the supervision of a physical therapy doctor and physiotherapist. The technicians, who follow the programmed treatment and provide support during its implementation, take theoretical and mainly applied courses with the internationalization vision of Istanbul Gelişim University during their 2-year education, and learn the human anatomy and bone structure in detail in the applied courses given in laboratories equipped with advanced technology. In cooperation with health institutions, Physiotherapy Department students are offered a 30-day internship opportunity at the end of their first year, and they are given the chance to experience what they learned at school in health institutions and to communicate with patients one-on-one.
Graduates of Istanbul Gelişim University Physiotherapy Department, whose goal is to create value, can continue their career as physiotherapy technicians at the end of 2 years, as well as
have the right to continue their 4-year Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department by taking the Exam.
As in the whole world, the interest in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is increasing day by day in Turkey, and much more assistants are needed in this field. We would be happy to see you in this section, where the need is increasing day by day and improving the quality of life of people.
I wish you all a healthy, successful and happy new year.
