Sweating of the feet and hands is known as “palmoplantar hyperhidrosis”. Although armpit sweating usually starts in adolescence, excessive sweating in the hand-foot area can start in childhood.

Treatment

Iontophoresis; It is a simple but effective method used in the treatment of excessive sweating in the hands and feet. It is a suitable method for individuals who have used strong antiperspirant drugs but have not resolved. It is known that when used correctly and individually, iontophoresis has a high success rate of 83% in people with sweating problems in the palms and feet. Recently, iontopheresis device has been developed and used effectively for people with excessive underarm sweating.

In iontophoresis, water is used as an intermediate to transmit the electric current delivered through the skin. Although the mechanism of action of iontophoresis is still not fully understood, the goal is to prevent the outflow of sweat by interacting with the given current and the minerals in the water, forming a thick layer on the outer surface of the skin.
