Ergonomically Appropriate Arrangement of the Working Environment
Istanbul Gelisim University Lecturer Ali Karaağaç and Lecturer Merve Karaağaç gave information about the ergonomically appropriate arrangement of the working environment for students and faculty members during the distance education process
The chair used should protect and support the back and waist of the person angularly and anatomically. When the person is standing, the sitting table should be at the same level as the knee.
In the sitting position, there should be 8-10 cm distance between the knees and the table and the waist should be supported. The feet should be in full contact with the ground to transfer the load, and the knees and hips should not be bent more than 90°.
While sitting in a chair, the wrists should be in a natural stance and the wrists should not be angled. Forearms should be parallel to the floor.
Shoulders should be in a relaxed position, up and down should not be forced. Elbows should stay on the armrest and adhere to the body at an angle of 90-100o.
The table should be approximately 50 cm wide and 160 cm long.
The distance between the eye and the monitor should be at least 50-65 cm.
The backrest angle should be adjustable and the back support should be in the range of 90-120°.
