Pathology is a medical science that involves the investigation and diagnosis of diseases by examining surgically removed organs, tissues (biopsy specimens), body fluids and in some cases whole body (autopsy). The aspects of a bodily sample that may be taken into account include the gross anatomic structure, the appearance of cells using immunologic markers and chemical signatures. Pathology also includes scientific studies on the causes, mechanisms, and prevalence of the disease process. Areas of work include damage to cellular adaptation, necrosis (death of living cells or tissues), inflammation, wound healing, and neoplasia (abnormally new growth of cells). Pathologists specialize in a wide range of diseases, including cancer, and are made by cancer pathologists. The cellular model of tissue samples is observed under a microscope to determine whether a sample is benign or cancerous. Pathology also uses genetic studies and gene markers in the evaluation of various diseases.

The technicians trained in Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program graduate from our school by acquiring all the competencies related to the field. Anatomical pathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology and Molecular pathology, the subspecialties of pathology science, technicians who have applied in the advanced laboratory have the ability to use current diagnostic techniques.
