"New Treatment Method in Orthodontics: Transparent Plaques"
Istanbul Gelisim University Lecturer Ayşegül Ural gave information about transparent plaques.
Istanbul Gelisim University Lecturer Ayşegül Ural made statements about the transparent plaques used in orthodontic treatment.
Ayşegül Ural said, "Developments in orthodontic treatment, which position the teeth properly within the jawbone, have been accompanied by a significant increase in the aesthetic demands of patients, especially in recent years. Patients often complain about the appearance of traditional orthodontic methods such as braces. Therefore, in order to overcome these limitations, clinical application of aesthetic materials and materials. Techniques have been introduced. Transparent aligners, which we can call the invisible alternative to braces, have been significantly improved with the innovations introduced since the development of Invisalign® technology in 1997, and many cases have been successfully treated. Later on, other companies have developed their own systems to take market share from the growing transparent aligner industry." .
Emphasizing that transparent plaques are based on computer aided design procedures, Lect. See. Ayşegül Ural said, "Orthodontic treatment with transparent aligners is a digitized process that starts with the acquisition of a 3D model of the dental arches, which allows planning tooth movements with the appropriate software. CAD/CAM technology is used to predict treatment results and to use a single silicon or digital impression, a series of transparent It has been used to produce plaque. The plaque allows the control of 3-dimensional tooth movements by holding the teeth from all their surfaces (vestibular, lingual/palatal and occlusal) and applying appropriate forces thanks to the attachments of different sizes and shapes and other specific features."
Instructor See. Ayşegül Ural continued her statement as follows: "Transparent aligners are preferred today not only because of the aesthetic need but also because of the increased comfort compared to the braces it offers to the person. The advantage of clear aligners that can be put on and removed by the patient is to remove the plaque, brush and floss, to eat everything that the patient normally does. It is claimed in some studies that clear aligners are less painful than braces and result in a shorter time compared to traditional braces treatment. Each custom-made clear aligner with SmartTrack material is corrected 0.5 mm and applied to the teeth. Each time it is changed by the patient for varying periods of time (every 7 to 14 days) depending on the company and the case, it gradually approaches the targeted result. Plaques that should be used for at least 20 hours a day should only be removed during eating and oral care."
