Sibel Haklı continued her explanation as follows:"Stress is defined as the organism's response to any change that puts pressure on the organism (Selye, 1973). Lazarus and Folkman (1984) consider stress as the individual's interpretation of the state of danger that arises due to interaction with the environment. Stress is a short-term, acute form of stress. and chronic long-term. Short-term stress makes the organism ready for danger and becomes protective. On the other hand, chronic stress causes many diseases, reduces the function of immune protective cells and plays a suppressive role on the immune system.

Sibel Haklı drew attention to the fact that in this epidemic where many uncertainties are experienced, in some individuals, the brain secretes more stress hormones, and excessive stress negatively affects the immune system. All studies show that the ability of the virus to infect and cause disease increases when the immune system is suppressed. This means that you become more susceptible to the virus without realizing it, rather than fighting the virus. The body can only buffer even a momentary stress in a few hours. When anxiety cannot be controlled, a chronic high stress picture emerges. Stress causes more production of the stress hormone called cortisol. In fact, when cortisol is secreted in small amounts, it is good for immunity by preventing inflammation, but when it is constantly released due to stress, our body gets used to having too much cortisol in the blood and starts to do harm. Moreover, excess cortisol is very harmful for the brain as it is for many organs; high levels of cortisol can wear down the brain, impairing its ability to function properly. It can disrupt the regulation of connections (synapses) between nerve cells (neurons), which can cause asociality and a decrease in social interactions in people. Chronic stress has a depressing effect on the cortex, the area of the brain responsible for memory and learning. This can reduce learning ability.
