Audiometry

 Interview on the Audiometry Program

Health Services Vocational School Lect. Fadime Aybüke KILIÇ interviewed Meryem AKTAŞ, 2nd Year Student of the Audiometry Program.

1-Hello, can you introduce yourself to us?

Hello, I'm Meryem Aktas. I am 20 years old and I live in Istanbul. I am a 2nd year student at the Audiometry department.

2-How did you decide to choose the audiometry program? Why did you choose this department?

I decided to choose the audiometry department thanks to the people around me who have hearing loss. Everyone needs to hear, understand and be understood by the voices around them. Thanks to this section, I chose this section because I could help these individuals, even if only a little bit.

3-So, who is the Audiometrist? What are their duties and responsibilities?

An audiometrist is a person who classifies the degree and type of hearing loss by performing hearing tests on a 1-day-old baby and sometimes on a 90-year-old individual. To summarize its duties and responsibilities briefly, it is to maintain, repair and calibrate the equipment used in the tests, to perform speech and pure tone audiometry, and to evaluate and program the devices of individuals using hearing aids.

4-This is your second year in this episode. We would like to learn about hearing health through your eyes. What are your thoughts on this?

Whether you're with loved ones or enjoying your favorite television show, your hearing plays a fundamental role in your overall well-being. In order to protect your hearing health, you should stay away from noise as much as possible, avoid hard blows to your ear, and have middle ear infections treated timely and effectively. When you hear well, you are well equipped to embrace the life you want.

5-Finally, what would you like to say to the students who want to choose this department and to the current audiometry students?

Since audiometry is a rematched department, I suggest you set aside your career fears while choosing it. On the other hand, I advise my friends who are currently students not to neglect to improve themselves while studying at the department and to be open to innovations by following the innovations as it is a constantly developing and renewing department.
